Ms. Raffety
Lisa Joy Raffety has been a teacher for most of her life, but has taught Social studies and ELA for four years. In her past life, she was a professional actress, and taught acting, Shakespeare, and also directed several theater productions with kids. She also was a professional tour guide in New York City at Radio City Music Hall and a History docent on an architecture boat on the Chicago River. (She has lived in all three of the largest cities in the United States – New York City, Chicago, and LA.)
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Master’s degree in history from California State University.
As a high school teacher in Milwaukee, WI (her hometown) and in Chicago, she taught both history and English. She is an avid reader, a history nerd, loves multi-syllable words, and delights in buying new books for herself. She hopes to impart the love of books and history to every child in the 6th grade. (But she will happily settle for one or the other).
Ms. Raffety looks forward to helping out with the drama club, and inspiring many future thespians at PCCS. When Ms. Raffety is not enlightening the Young Minds at PCCS, she is playing with her adorable 18-month-old baby girl, Izzy, or indulging in her love of nature, by going on back country hiking trips.
