Mr. Hallberg

Grade: 7/8th Grade Science Room: 28 Teacher Assistant: Ms. Duerig

Eric Hallberg is new to PCCS for the 2025/2026 school year. Holding a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from De Paul University, Mr. Hallberg’s love of teaching children began when he became the primary at home parent for his two children. As his children grew, Mr. Hallberg began volunteering with the Libertyville schools and eventually became a regular substitute teacher and a Paraprofessional teacher. Mr. Hallberg grew up on a small farm where he spent most of his childhood, exploring the nearby woods and wetlands. As early has he can remember, he was fascinated by the natural world and the interconnectivity of all of nature. Upon graduation from De Paul University, Mr. Hallberg bought a one-way ticket to Africa where he pursued his childhood dream of visiting the African Continent. Mr. Hallberg’s backpacking and hitchhiking adventures eventually landed him on the border of Rwanda, where he ended up working at Rwandan refugee camps.

Upon Mr. Hallberg’s return to the USA he became a Master Gardener, started a green building construction business, and became a Realtor. Other interests of Mr. Hallberg are, organic farming, native prairie restoration, theater, film and comedy and you can see him teach and perform Improv Comedy.
