We are pleased to announce that the Board appointed Stacey White and Marcelo Chiodi as 2019 members of the PCCS Board of Directors. This will be Mr. White’s first term as a Director and he shares that, “I chose to serve on the board because of how important Prairie Crossing Charter School is to my daughter, Evelyn. I have learned through her experience at PCCS how critical it is to find the right educational experience to allow a student to thrive. Making sure that other students like Evie in the area continue to have the Charter School as an option is very important to me.”
Mr. Chiodi will begin his second term and shares, “I am honored to have been appointed again to serve another term on the PCCS Board. I believe that we all find different ways to serve our families and communities and this is my small way of giving back to both. It’s been my desire to contribute my skills, knowledge and time to a school that does such a wonderful job of educating and developing the stewards of tomorrow, so I’m fortunate to be granted the opportunity to continue to serve.”
Mr. White and Mr. Chiodi will be officially seated at our October 23rd School Board meeting. Board President Ed Jamison said, “We had a very strong pool of candidates looking to help serve the school community. Stacey and Marcelo’s expertise will help strengthen what we feel are the immediate needs of the Board today. We appreciate all the candidates that applied to serve our school community and look forward to discussing more opportunities in the future. Board service is an extremely important component in providing and ensuring strong governance for the school and we appreciate their willingness to support PCCS in this way.”
At the October meeting, we will also be saying thank you to Mr. Brian Conlon who has served the maximum two consecutive terms from 2012 to 2018. Brian has been an integral part of the School’s governance for 6 years and we appreciate his role as the Board Treasurer, Chair of the Finance Committee and Chair of the Board’s Nominating Committee and the Parent Elect Committee.
The results of the Parent-Elect Election did not meet the minimum 30% threshold and therefore the candidate cannot be confirmed; a new Parent-Elect election will be started and all qualified candidates are invited to apply. An email will be forthcoming with details about the process.
