” Our girls almost didn’t get the wonderful opportunity of going here because we believed there would be no openings. We can’t say enough good things about the school, the teachers, the staff and even the other students. Both our girls are thriving here, and we feel so blessed. I encourage you to enroll and hopefully you’ll be as lucky as we feel. “

We welcome you to learn more about enrollment at Prairie Crossing Charter School. Prairie Crossing Charter School is a free, public school. There are no admission exams or tuition costs to attend PCCS. Admission is on a non-discriminatory basis and open to all students regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, religious preference or disability. We are a free public school that provides a personalized Kindergarten through 8th Grade education for students that reside in the Woodland (50) and Fremont (79) Districts.
Our School year starts in August. Families interested in registering their child for the PCCS lottery/wait list or would like to inquire about openings are encouraged to complete a registration form and contact Janette Siegel, or you may call her at 847.548.1938 with any questions.
Lottery/Wait List Information and Lottery Registration Information
When PCCS has more applicants than seats available, State law mandates that there must be a lottery registration process. Our lottery is nonexclusive, non-discriminatory and open to all students regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, religious preference or disability process where all students who live in Districts 50 and 79 are welcome to apply. Legal residency must be established as of the day of the lottery for an applicant to be included in the lottery process. Eligibility for Out-of-district students will only be available after all in-district student applications have been placed during the lottery process.
Families are welcome to complete registration forms for their child at any time throughout the year in order to be included on the wait list. See the top of the page for the wait list registration forms. Families interested in submitting an after-lottery registration form for their child(ren) should see Wait Lists (below) for more information.
Sibling preference is given to any sibling of an already enrolled student. If there is not an available seat in the grade level that the sibling is entering they will be number one on the wait list or be below any sibling already established on the wait list until an open seat becomes available. Kindergarten siblings names will be pulled in the lottery process to establish the number of seats that will be available to new Kindergarten families applying after we have fulfilled the sibling preference commitment.
We offer two opportunities every year for interested families to visit the school. We have several teachers and administrators available at the Open House to answer questions. There will be a presentation and Q&A session; after the formal beginning of the evening we offer the parents the opportunity to walk through classrooms and ask teachers questions. This year’s Open Houses will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 and Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 7:00 pm.
After the lottery takes place in March, our wait list is established for the upcoming school year. As grade level openings become available we call the families on the wait list starting at number one. The wait list can be very fluid; we encourage families to stay open to the possibility of moving your child mid-year if that opportunity should become available. If you have missed the lottery process and would like to place your child’s name on the wait list, no problem at all.
Registration forms are accepted after the Lottery drawing. Students will be placed on the wait list based on the following priority: siblings of returning/current students, in-district applicants and then out-of-district applicants. The student wait list is maintained and updated as changes are made for the current school year and the next school year after the March drawing. Please be sure to check the correct list to determine your child’s placement on the wait list. Useful links for the
