Spelling
Students are now in different spelling groups based on the initial spelling assessment. There will be a time in class for spelling, but students should also be practicing spelling every night. There will be a spelling test most Fridays.
Reading
During reading this week students continued to work on reading independently on the computer and physical books. While students were reading, Mr. Stewart and I listened to students read individually. Next week we will finish up the reading assessments.
Writing
During writing this week the students learned about writing stories. They planned out a variety of story ideas to use in the future. Thursday the students planned a story about a character saving an animal. Next week we will continue learning about writing stories.
Math
This past week the students learned a variety of strategies to solve multiplication problems. Ask your child what strategies they learned for X4, X6, or X9. We also began our number corner calendar that has Ancient Egyptian numbers. Next week the students will study multiplicative comparison and equations.
Science/Nature Time
This week the students began learning about economics. They learned many vocabulary words including producer, consumer, opportunity cost, scarcity, and budget. Next week we will continue to learn about economics including the use of advertising.
Reminders/Other
Please let your child know if there are nut products in the lunch. Your child may eat these during lunch away from other students and then wash their hands.
Please send at least two clean masks to school daily. It is also important that your child have a water bottle daily.
This year the computers will stay at school. They were sent home last year due to the pandemic and the delivery method of education.
NWEA Testing
The students will have NWEA testing on Wednesday and Thursday morning next week.
