Math

The students finished the first ½ of Unit 7 about multiplication. It is essential for your child to know multiplication facts quickly to be able to solve larger problems. You can use flashcards or various websites or apps. Some websites include https://www.multiplication.com/teach/practice-facts, https://www.mathplayground.com/index_multiplication_division.html, or https://www.ixl.com/. We will end the year with a review of graphs.

English Language Arts

The students wrote a short story over the past two weeks. They all started with a story started that took place in a laundromat. It was great to hear all their creative ideas. Students have now started an opinion piece about school uniforms.

The students have finished spelling for the school year. They should be bringing home their spelling journals on Monday.

In reading the students are completing a book project for the chapter book, Joshua’s Perfect Place. The students are making a scrapbook of important people and items in Joshua’s life.

Social Studies and Environmental Education

During social studies, the students learned about the branches of government. We went over the roles of the three branches. Then we discussed how Illinois became a state. They learned that this part of the state was almost part of Wisconsin.

On Wednesday we met up with our book buddies to do a nature scavenger hunt. The 3rd graders and the 7th graders enjoyed finding items in nature.

Empty Backpacks Nightly

I will be sending home items almost every day next week. Please remind your child to empty his/her backpack nightly.
