Math
In math, we began Unit 1 about multiplication and division. The students learned different ways to show their work for multiplication and division problems. Next week they will be learning about prime and composite numbers.
Reading
During reading class, I read various books with a theme of friendship. The students listened to The Other Side, Better Than You, and The Dunderheads. The students also learned about visualizing while reading. Next week we will continue reading friendship books and learning about visualization.
Writing
During writing students took 2 days to write a narrative story. This will be used as a beginning-of-the-year writing sample. Students will begin a writing unit on realistic fiction next week.
Science and EE
During science, the students learned about the scientific method. Next week they will do a few science experiments using the scientific method.
During our Environmental Education (EE) time, Naomi came to teach the class about phenology. The students spent a few moments outside recording their observations.
NWEA
The students will be taking NWEA on Tuesday afternoon and Friday morning.
