Math

In math, the students took a test on Unit 6 and have been working on Unit 7. Unit 7 is about multiplication, division, and fractions. This past week the students worked on solving story problems with multiple steps and multiplying by 11s and 12s. Next week students will be solving two-digit by one-digit multiplication problems.

English Language Arts

During reading, we are continuing to read A Perfect Place Joshua’s Pioneer Journal. The students are learning different vocabulary words, answering questions about the book, and completing writing prompts related to the book. It was great to see students make connections to our field trip to The Grove.

In writing, the students have finished the research about their endangered animals. They are now writing paragraphs that include important details. Last week they learned how to include a bibliography. Hopefully, they will finish these papers in the next few days. We will then move on to writing a short story.

Social Studies and Environmental Education

During social studies, the students learned about the rights and responsibilities of citizens. They began learning about the different levels of government and the branches of the government. Next week we will learn more about government including the branches of government.

On Wednesday we had a short quiet spot. It was great to see all the green of the grass and the sprouts of the buds growing.

Native American Experiences

On May 2nd and May 4th, the 3rd and 4th-grade classes will be doing a variety of activities to learn more about Native Americans. On May 4th we will have a few members of the Potawatomi Tribe come speak to the students and have a powwow with the classes. You can sign up to help with the activities HERE. On May 11 our class will visit the Dunn Museum.

Spanish New Vocabulary Words

From Spanish – I created a new Quizlet for your classes with the new vocabulary words.
