Mrs. Steinbeck’s Weekly Review

It’s here, it’s here, it’s here! Winter break is so close, just 4 1/2 days until we all get to take a little time to reflect, relax, and resolve to make some changes for the upcoming year. I can assure you that teachers and students alike are ready for a bit of downtime. Here’s a quick look at what we did this past week.

Specials

The seven elements of art are what the kids are working on in art class. They are doing a great job with their little books. Once we get back from the break they will start working on clay projects! They took a Spanish test today on some vocabulary words. In PE, they played some games that include rolling and aiming balls at bowling pins. Of course they practiced for the Holiday Sing again in music class.

Math/Reading/Writing/SS

Our third graders have continued to work on their informational writing pieces. They have also been reading informational texts in reading class. We have transitioned to science and kids are learning all about animal adaptations. They are doing a wonderful job understanding these topics. In math class we are now working on measuring both solid and liquid items. Everyone loves this area because it means a lot of hands on learning. So fun.

Other Things that Were Happening

During the first trimester the class earned so many Hawk’s Tickets that we were able to have a fun celebration today. So we had pajama day, ate some popcorn, and watched the movie Balto this afternoon. That was after Pizza Friday and a phenology session so it was a pretty neat day.

Even More Other Things

As I mentioned last week, we are getting the kids more used to using Chromebooks. One way is to have them do a few sentences on the computer. We give them this assignment via Google Classroom. All of our students should know how to sign-on to Google and then get to Google Classroom to find the assignment. There is no need to e-mail us the sentences or print them out. We will continue to work with the students to further develop their computer skills.

Your child can get a Hawk’s Ticket next week when they come up and tell me my favorite color. It’s red.

I’m not sure if I will do an update next week, but if I don’t I will still upload photos to the gallery tab, so look for them there.

Have a fantastic weekend!
