Mrs. Steinbeck’s Weekly Review

This week flew by! It helps to have two early releases at the end of the week. Let’s get right to the highlights.

Recess fun included snow again. Not going to lie, I’m over the snow and was hoping for more spring-like weather, but the kids had fun.

We didn’t go outside for recess on Monday because the PE teachers held our Jump Rope for Heart event. So we went to the gym and jumped rope for the 30 minutes. The kids loved using the variety of ropes they had available. According to Mr. Flinn, the school raised over $7,000 for the American Heart Association. And that was just the online numbers, I haven’t heard yet what the grand total is.

We also had a green assembly this week. March is all about conserving water. Ask your child what they can do to conserve water!

Thank you all for coming to student-led conferences this week. The kids enjoy sharing what they’ve been doing with you. I can assure you that a lot of time went into making the conferences run so well. We spent a lot of time getting ready for them. The kids got to listen to their kindergarten book buddies practice theirs and we worked with Mrs. McGovern’s class to practice as well. The kids also cleaned up their lockers and supply bins in preparation for your visit.

In between all of that the students were busy doing the normal things in a week. They continued to work through their current math unit, completed their informational writing assignment, became a colonist in Boston, and continued reading their colonial era novels.

Have a wonderful weekend!
