Mrs. Steinbeck’s Weekly Review

If you came to this post to see a bunch of pictures from last week, I’m sorry to disappoint you, but somehow I only took four pictures in class this week. I will try harder to pull the phone out next week so you can see what your kids are doing. So this will be short and sweet.

In PE, the kids did fitness testing for two classes and then played a fun team game involving dodgeballs, bowling pins, and baskets. Myself, Mr. Loustaunau, and Mr. Flinn all joined in on the fun.

Recess was a mess with a ton of mud everywhere, but the kids still had fun and even mined some leftover ice!

In math we have started a new unit on multiplication and division. During reading the kids have started novels having to do with colonial times. Their informational writing pieces will be completed this week. And in social studies they are researching the thirteen colonies and focusing on one particular colony. They are also working on 100-acre maps and 1-acre maps to understand the layout of early colonial homesteads and farms. This has proven to be a bit of a challenge as some of them drew houses and barns that were larger than an acre each, or outhouses that were 20 x 20. But we will revisit this during the upcoming week and make sure the scales are right.

That’s it for this week! Have a great weekend!
