Mrs. Steinbeck’s Weekly Review

Let’s get right to the highlights from last week.

In PE, the kids have been playing Pickle-Ball, this is a racket/ball type sport similar to tennis. It’s just a little slower than tennis so it’s perfect for indoors and kids. Everyone seemed to like this game.

On Tuesday we had a Green Assembly. Some of our students took part in the assembly as members of the Eco-Warrior team. One other student got to play a game on stage with their book buddy. It was fun to see so many of our kids participating and having fun on stage.

Recess in the winter is so much better when there is snow on the ground and this week we had a lot.

Fourth graders also got to go outside with Naomi. She came in and talked about how early colonists harvested ice and were able to use it in the warmer months to keep food cold. Then she gave the kids an experiment to try. They had to go outside and gather insulation materials that would keep a small block of ice from melting too quickly. Once they had their insulation packed into ziploc bags we dropped the ice into the bag. Then for the remainder of the day we measured the size of the ice every hour. Every groups ice made it to the end of the day, but sadly nobody’s ice survived the night.

This coming week is full of all kinds of interesting things. Monday we will be having an assembly regarding the Lunar New Year, later in the day someone will come into the classroom to lead us in a craft project. Wednesday we will be having a PBIS celebration and then our Valentine Party. Then Thursday will be Colonial Day and it is also an early release. The upcoming weekend will be a four-day one as there is no school on Friday or Monday. Hopefully everyone is back to being healthy and will be at school this week to participate in all of the fun activities.

Have a great week!
