Once again we had a great time in Ms. Hahn’s fourth grade class. The students have been working very hard on their explorer research reports this week. Rough drafts should have been submitted on Friday. Fourth graders have been given quite a bit of in class time to do this work, hopefully they used it wisely. We did notice that fourth graders get a little antsy sitting for longer periods of time so we have been doing regular movement breaks with the class. Generally we put on a quick goofy video and they can dance or move along with the people in the video. They seem to like these little breaks.
The highlight of the week was probably the Halloween party. The kids really enjoyed themselves. All of the kids, myself, and Ms. Hahn want to thank all of the parents who helped make it possible.
The class started the day on a field trip to the Genesee Theatre in Waukegan. We had 2nd row seats! While there we listened to a few storytellers share some passages from Ray Bradbury books.
It was a lot of fun. Once back, we had lunch and then went outside to do Phenology. We told the kids that they would not be able to participate in the Halloween party if they did not finish their Phenology – we’ve never seen a group of kids so eager to do Phenology before!
Once Phenology was over it was time to get on our costumes! They were great fun. I tried to get pictures of everyone, but I may have missed a few. I also didn’t have anyone take my picture so I put my costume on at home and had one of my kids take a shot of it, the kids got a kick out of it!
Finally, this week we will be getting new student and teacher furniture delivered. If at all possible we would like you to not share to much about this with your students. We have not really mentioned it all, as we would like them to be surprised when they walk into the classroom on Friday. We would love it if you could help us keep the secret! Pictures of the new stuff will be posted next week.
Have a great week!
