Addition

Amoeba Addition Game  This game provides practice adding 3 digits by splitting numbers. Look for the title “Addition by Splitting” game.

Glowla’s Estimation Contraption  In the first level of this game, players mentally round numbers to the tens place, add them, and type in the answer. Subsequent levels progress to larger numbers.

Math Lines  In this game, race to pair numbers that add up to a target sum. Before your child plays, review the pairs of numbers that add up to the target sum. You might even look at different ways to make the number using game pieces, marbles, or pennies.

Speed Grid Addition  Players select two numbers from a grid to equal a given sum. Timed game.

 

Subtraction

Math Magician  Specify facts to practice. Select from addition, subtraction, multiplication & division. Timed.

Xtra Math  This free, web-based, math fact fluency program includes addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Telling Time

Bang On Time  The time is displayed in words. A player stops the clock when hands are in the correct position.

Fractions

Battleship Numberline: Fractions  Players click on a 0-1 number line to identify where a given fraction is located.

Concentration  Match each fraction visual to its name. Select from other modes to play games using arrays and shapes.

Melvin’s Make a Match  Click on bottles to match equivalent fractions in this Cyberchase game.

Measurement

At the Vets  Measure the height, length, and weight of animals at the vets using online tools.

Calculation Nation  The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Illuminations site hosts over 10 games that includes notes for parents. Students can either register and challenge other players on-line or use the “guest pass” button to enter the game list and play against the computer. Designed for upper elementary & middle grades.

Cyberchase  The popular PBS show hosts a site with about 50 games and activities, along with movie clips that explore math concepts.
