Zoom and 2nd Trimester Schedule

I have adjusted the schedule slightly for 2nd trimester. These changes reflect the breaks we were already taking, and I have added a few subjects. All students are expected to be with a teacher at 2:30. Hahn Schedule 2nd Trimester

Zoom Expectations

As we head into the second trimester, I want to review Zoom expectations. Students are expected to keep the camera on during zoom lessons. If there is a connection issue, please have your child send me a message in chat. The students should be visible during the lesson. We take breaks throughout the day, so there is no eating during lessons. Unless an adult tells them to leave Zoom, the children should stay until the end of class. If your child needs to leave a lesson early, please use the chat feature to let us know.

Spelling

Students did list 21 last week. As part of grammar, the students had to write sentences with their spelling words. They are working on using a capital letter at the beginning of a sentence and end punctuation.  Next week we will be doing sort 22 and the students will be writing sentences with their spelling words.

Reading

This week the students worked on nonfiction reading. In groups, we are working on reading closely and finding the answer in the article or book. The students are also working on reading fluently and answering comprehension questions. Reading groups will continue next week using the reading packets sent home before Thanksgiving.

Writing

Last week the students worked on revising their informational writing piece. They added details, diagrams, introductions, and conclusions. Next week we will finish revising and editing. The students will make a final copy of their writing.

Math

During math, the students continued to solve multi-digit addition and subtraction problems. The students learned expanded form for 3 and 4 digit numbers. This skill will be helpful in future math lessons. Next week we will complete almost all the lessons for Unit 3. The goal will be to take the assessment the week before winter break.

Science and Social Studies

This past week the students learned about Woodland Indians. They learned how they used corn, trees, and deer for many things. Mrs. Steinbeck read Rough Faced Girl that is similar to Cinderella. Next week we will learn about the Plains Indians.

Naomi Lesson

Naomi has talked a few times with the students about how to use less natural resources. The students are recording how they are using less natural resources. They should be doing this for two weeks. This week Naomi will be discussing how artists draw/record nature vs how a scientist draws/records nature observations.
