Week 3

Happy long weekend! We have had another busy week here at PCCS. The students have started the math portion of the NWEA testing, and will do ELA next week. If they missed any testing, they can make it up the week of Sept. 19 – Don’t worry!

We’ve finished our introduction to prairies and are starting to introduce the woodlands. Our hike to the woods, on Wednesday, was a success! The students had a great time playing “Meet a Tree” with Ms. Naomi and sitting quietly to observe their surroundings. What a great start!

In reading, the kids are getting back into the groove of Daily Five and switching stations. They’ve been doing a fantastic job working independently in their different groups. Their stamina in Read to Self has doubled since the beginning of the year!

Fourth grade math has been working hard on multiplicative comparisons and equation sentences. Third grade math is continuing their unit on time and elapsed time.

Next week, fourth grade math has test on Friday – we’ll be preparing for it throughout the week. We will be starting spelling groups on Tuesday and finishing up F&P testing by Friday. Don’t forget the Spanish assessment on sports terms is also next Friday! On Thursday, the 3rd and 4th graders will complete the ELA portion of NWEA.

Farm to Table registration forms are available! Our first F2T is Wednesday, September 14th. Our class will be eating at 11:15-12:00 if any parents are interested in coming!

Have a great LONG weekend!
