Turner Times 12/14/18

Greetings,

In ELA, all students will be giving a brief oral presentation next week, to summarize their biography report for peers. Those presentations will tentatively take place Wednesday and Thursday. In social studies, students will complete their Village Level Empires Task prior to break, as well as participate in two group challenges, on the Ancient Hebrews and on Cuneiform writing.

With winter break only one week away, a few important notes:

  • If your child is looking for something to occupy their time over break, there is an extra credit opportunity for ELA linked here.

  • Please begin sending your child(ren) with an extra bag, as we will be starting to send home the contents of their lockers next week.

  • We are looking for a family who would be interested in taking care of Hershey (our class turtle) while everyone is away from campus. Please respond to this email by Tuesday if your family is interested (she can be left unattended for a few days, for those who may have a trip planned for part of break).

  • After break, we will be holding our classroom spelling bee (date TBD). Feel free to review the study words provided here, in order to prepare.

Important Dates

  • Thu, 12/20: Student/Staff Basketball Game (2:30 pm in the gym)

  • Fri, 12/21: Early Release (1 pm) — Winter Sing (8:30 AM, in the gym); Holiday Party (11:45 AM — 12:45 PM)

  • Sat, 12/22-Sun, 1/6: No School (Winter Break)

Stay warm!

-Ms. Turner & Mrs. Krissek
