Sense of Place Journal #1

Have you ever stopped to take in the world around you through your senses other than sight?  On Friday, I had the kids go out to Lake Leopold to do exactly that.  Using our winter hats and scarves, we took away our sense of sight. This allowed us to focus more on touch, sound and smell.  It was a very unique experience for most of the students, as they learned that we rely heavily on sight to help explain what is around us.  Wait, was that a bird or my friend standing next to me?
