This week we finished up Investigation 3 in our Prime Time unit. The students worked on finding the prime factorizations of numbers and using the prime factorizations to find the least common multiple and greatest common factor. We also took the Investigation 3 quiz on Friday and the students are ready to being Investigation 4 on Monday. Investigation 4 is all about linking addition and multiplication using the distributive property. During this investigation students will learn to reason with even and odd numbers, use the distributive property, and review the order of operations. The plan is to have the Prime Time unit test on Monday, October 5th. This date will depend on how long it takes us to wrap up Investigation 4 and review.
