The students have been doing a fabulous job working their way through our Comparing Bits and Pieces unit. We have completed Investigations 1 and 2 and will begin working on Investigation 3 this week. Investigation 3 is all about locating rational numbers on the number line. We played a game on Friday where we practiced converting fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions. The students also practiced figuring out where these numbers would be placed on the number line. We learned about absolute value and how it’s the distance away from zero that a number is (The absolute value of -8 and 8 are both 8). We will be taking our Investigation 3 quiz on Friday and then starting Investigation 4 next week. In Investigation 4 the students will be learning about percents and how we use them.
