This week we will be going over our Let’s Be Rational Unit Test. We will then take the pre-test for our next unit, Decimal Ops. When we return from break we will be starting the unit Decimal Ops: Computing with Decimals and Percents. This unit will help students develop an understanding of fractions, decimals and percents. Students will engage in problem situations that help them develop algorithms for adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals. They will explore percents in the contexts of tips, taxes, and discounts. Students will learn two ways to make sense of decimals–extending place value concepts and interpreting decimals as fractions.
