Happy Spring

Despite our recent snowfall, tomorrow we will celebrate the vernal equinox and the first day of Spring! What a nice way to wrap up our Earth Science unit on the seasons! We will have fun with a few demonstrations on gravity this week in science and then move into our new unit on cells.

On Monday in ELA we are planning to meet with our book buddies and work together on our Green Challenge for the month, Reducing your Carbon Footprint. We will create a footprint pledge of something we promise to do for the remainder of the March and into the future. On Tuesday in ELA we have a test on the vocabulary words from our last read aloud, Redwall, and Thursday is our weekly spelling test. TWAS letters went home again last Friday. Please remind your students to show you their letters.

On Tuesday, April 18th, we will be going on a field trip to the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Chicago as part of our Earth Week celebration. In conjunction with this trip, our class will be adopting a butterfly in their Butterfly Haven. The cost of adoption is $10 and we’ve asked the class to collect quarters to contribute to the fund. If you have any quarters at home you would be willing to donate, please send them in on Monday. Also, on Monday, April 17th we will be going to see a “Green Home” in Wildwood and we are looking for drivers for this trip. Please look for a separate email with more information.

This Wednesday is Farm to Table and Spring Break begins on Monday, March 27th. School will resume on Monday, April 3rd.
