We had our January Green Challenge assembly today. This month, we are focusing on conserving and reducing our energy use. How much energy does your household use? Are there simple ways you can reduce how much you use? Visit the Nature Conservancy website to calculate what your carbon footprint currently is and then talk to your family to come up with ways your can reduce your energy use.
During your family discussion, encourage your child to keep track of your progress towards reducing energy use during the month of January. If your student brings in a record of what your family did (how many lights were turned off, the number of unused appliances were unplugged, how many times you turned off the faucet while brushing your teeth) by January 30, they will receive 15 Hawk tickets.
