Classroom Update 3/30

Today we started a new science unit on solids and liquids. I’ve attached the parent letter on this email, which will give you a little information about what we will be doing. Today the students worked in groups and came up with descriptive words for 4 objects that were solids. Tommorrow they will do the same activity, but independently in their brand new science notebooks!
In Work on Writing (during Daily 5) I met with students to show them a new way that we will be starting out each work on writing session. The students will be given an option between 2 journal prompts to write about. Then they will be able to choose what they would like to do with the remainder of their writing session. Some students have been making very illustration-heavy writing pieces, so this will be a way to ensure that everyone is practicing writing in complete sentences.
