Classroom Update 2/26

Yesterday I send home our field trip commitment letter. Please make sure you send me an email confirming your child’s attendance as stated in the letter. We’ve almost got everyone’s reply already!
We worked hard to wrap up our 2nd trimester work today. We’ll have some carry over work to Monday, but I was very happy with everyone’s effort to get their things done. I was going to send home the catch-up homework…but then I was reminiscing about being a worry-free 1st and 2nd grader… Enjoy the snow and have a wonderful weekend. 🙂
From Mrs. Meyer, our school social worker:
On Tuesday, March 3, 2015, all students in second grade will participate in the Child Assault Prevention Program (CAPP).  This program will be presented by trained specialists from the Zacharias Sexual Abuse Center and presented at an age appropriate level.
The purpose of this program is to teach children to recognize and cope with potentially dangerous situations.  The children learn simple strategies such as assertiveness, peer support and utilizing trusted adults to reduce their vulnerability to unsafe situations or to get help when an unsafe situation occurs.  The program is presented in a single 40 minute session lead by a trained CAP presenter.  The classroom teacher will also be a lesson participant.
If you do not wish to have your child participate in this program, please contact me before the end of the day on Monday, March 2nd and we will arrange for an alternative activity during the presentation.
