Classroom Update 2/05

We had a normal morning in classroom 15 and an AMAZING afternoon!!
Today we had our PBIS celebration. The students got to play lots of fun games and just relax and let loose. Everyone seemed to enjoy their time. After our PBIS celebration, we went to visit our book buddies! Our buddies read us fairy tales, fables, or myths that they had written as the culminating project of a unit studying these types of writing.
Yesterday I got wrapped up in meeting and forgot to send out a classroom update. We learned about 2 green features of our building as part of our “design green” green challenge and to get us ready for student led conferences in March where we will tell you about a green feature of our campus. We learned that our lights can be turned on with just half the bulbs or all the bulbs. Our lights in both the classroom and bathrooms have motion sensors that turn the lights off if they don’t sense movement for 15 minutes. We also use CFL bulbs which use less watts. We have clerestory windows in both the hallway, high up, and in our classroom as well. Clerestory windows provide light as well as an opportunity for good air flow during the appropriate months. Both of these features help us conserve electricity and energy.
