Classroom Update 12/11

We had some fun journal prompt options today, ask your child what they chose to write about! (If your little one needs a memory jog- one was about a gingerbread house, and one was a letter to Mr. Smith)
In handwriting we reviewed letter x today. We’ve only got the lowercase z to review tomorrow and then we have gone over each letter! So, the expectations going forward should be correctly and neatly written words. I’ve seen every student able to do it in their handwriting notebook when asked, so no excuses. 🙂 If you need a refresher, I’ve included a PDF of how our lowercase letters should be formed. HWT Letter Practice for Home
In science we discussed our experiments from yesterday. It’s a privileged to have the opportunity to work in a classroom where students are so thoughtful and engaged while discussing an experiment. We had a great discussion about the observations that we made yesterday! I’ve included below some of our discussion questions for each experiment.
Questions for Making a Splash:
What did you observe each time the tuning fork went in the bowl?
What are some similarities with the tuning forks?
What differences did you notice with the tuning forks?
Why do you think there were changes between the tuning forks?
What conclusions can you make about this exploration?
Questions for Musical Rulers:
What did you observe each time you moved the ruler?
What are some similarities in sound that you noticed?
What are some differences in sound that you noticed?
Why do you think there were changes each time you moved the ruler?
What conclusions can you make about this exploration?
