Classroom News

Hello Families,

NWEA reports are coming home today with your student.

A majority of our learning activities next week will focus on interactive paper/pencil work, because the 6th grade is aiming to decrease our combined average screen time next week! We want to encourage students to bring their device each day in case it is needed for Specials, but hopefully this will prolong battery life/reduce the need for overnight charging, decrease the habit of opening their device during transition times AND increase community amongst peers by allowing students more opportunities to interact with eye contact and neighborly conversation.

Math A
Students took the assessment for Module 3 and grades are posted in powerschool. Students began Module 4, building addition/subtraction and multiplication/division identities.

Math B
Students solve various types of percent problems by identifying the type of percent problem and applying appropriate strategies.  Students extend mental math practices to mentally calculate the part, the percent, or the whole in percent word problems.
Math C
Students completed Module 3 Assessment. Students solve real-world and mathematical problems involving volume and surface areas of three dimensional objects composed of cubes and right prisms.
Science
Students continue to work in small groups researching and designing Biome specific dioramas. Students have one more workday in class, followed by presentations and our final Ocean assignment.
