Hello Families,
I hope this email finds you well. We have a busy week ahead prior to Holiday break, so please make note of the dates below.
Mon. 12/13: Cooking in Math (vegetarian chili & cranberry cornbread)
Thurs. 12/16: Winter Sing Recording, please encourage your student to dress up for the occasion.
Fri. 12/17: Early Release @1pm, Holiday parties prior.
Mon. 12/20-Fri. 12/31 Holiday Break
Mon. 1/3 School Resumes
Math A:
Students took their mid-module assessment today in class and will continue studying division of fractions and converting fractions to decimals. In addition, we will begin dividing decimals using the standard algorithm.
Math B:
Students continue to solve problems using expression, equations, and inequalities. Students are solving multi-step real-life and mathematical problems posed with positive and negative rational numbers in any form (whole numbers, fractions, and decimals), using tools strategically.
Math C:
Students continued working on simplifying expressions by combining like terms. They solved one step and two step equations using the properties of equality. Students began to read word problems and solve for unknown quantities. They defined variables and created expressions and equations from given information. Next week students look at various types of angles and solve algebraically for unknown angle measurements.
Science:
Students wrapped up their essays on Tectonic Plates this week. We will continue our study of the earth throughout next week and after winter break, focusing on plate tectonics and adding earthquakes, waters, and oceans.
I appreciate your support and partnership. Have a lovely weekend and please be in touch if you have any questions or concerns.
