Hello Families,
We had a fantastic first week of 6th grade. It was really great to see all of the students working together, welcoming new students, and eager to learn.
As a reminder, all students have access to our 6th Grade Homework Calendar, which is updated daily. Students do have a study hall period each day to work on uncompleted assignments and practice skills.
Please help your student remember to bring a refillable water bottle each day. We spend a lot of time outdoors and want to make sure that all students stay hydrated.
Science:
We are studying The Scientific Method. Students will begin working in pairs conducting research and an experiment on a teacher approved topic this week in class.
Math A:
Students are learning about ratios in Module 1. We will continue to learn about ratios and connect them to real world experiences in class this upcoming week. Students have opportunities to work individually, in pairs, and in small groups in class. I encourage all students to work on their multiplication facts at home 1-12 for mastery.
Math B:
Students are learning about ratios and proportional relationships in Module 1. Students are examining ratios to determine if they are proportional or not. We will continue to build on this skill next week in class.
Math placement procedures for 6th grade are outlined here.
