Classroom News

Good Evening,
I hope you all had a great weekend. We have a busy week ahead of us. Special notes this week include:
*Please provide an empty cereal box on Monday, February 11th for a craft activity.
*Wednesday-Farm to Table: Please send tableware for your student if they have F2T.
*Thursday- PBIS celebration in the gym and Valentine’s celebration at 2:15.
*No School Friday, February 15th (Staff Inservice) or Monday, February 18th (President’s Day).
Additionally, we wrapped up our Science unit on Friday with a test on Rocks, Sand, and Soil. We will begin our Social Studies unit this week focusing on American Indians and the movement of tribes in and out of Illinois. We will also begin our novel readings that tie into our Social Studies unit.
In Spelling, please help your student practice using their words in a sentence throughout the week. Students should know the meaning of each of their words. It helps to have students choose words that they are unsure about for their sentence words due on Friday’s of each week.
In writing, we are wrapping up our Informational essays by creating our final drafts. I look forward to reading each students final product. I am so proud of the effort and time they have put into this assignment.
In fourth grade math, our focus is angles, shapes, perimeter, and area. Students have been working with protractors finding the specific degrees of acute, right, and obtuse angles in class. They are adding angles and identifying different shapes as well based on the angle types. We will be measuring perimeter this week and using the equation for area.
I look forward to another wonderful week with your student! Thank you for your continued partnership. Please remember to check the homework calendar nightly for assignments.
