- Math: We are moving right along in Unit 1, looking at Number Puzzles, Multiplication, and Order of Operations. Students have been exploring different strategies for solving problems, and designing problems of their own to prove understanding. We will be having our first quiz over Investigation 1 topics, next week. Students have had several homework assignments, and grades have been entered into Powerschool.
- ELA:
- Writing: Students presented, with their table groups, a research assignment on a specific type of fox. From there, students will now be working on a comparison paper. They are completing graphic organizers today and will finish them for homework this weekend. Next week we will begin to structure our informational comparison papers.
- Lit circles: Students were given their specific book for Literature Circles on Wednesday. There will be 2 projects involved with these Literature Circles, 1 group project and 1 individual project. The focus of reading these books is to study excellent characterization by an author. Students have their first reading assignment this weekend, due Wednesday:
- Mockingbird: read Ch 1-10, stop at Ch 11
- Tangerine: read to p 77, stop at Sept 11
- Rules: read p 1-50
- Out of My Mind: read Ch 1-9, stop at Ch 10
- Freak the Mighty: read Ch 1-7, stop at Ch 8
- Social Studies: Students have designed a blueprint for an artifact from their culture. We will spend the majority of next week creating these artifacts in class. Please allow students to bring in materials to create the artifacts. If you aren’t sure if an item is truly necessary, please email me and I am happy to determine it’s necessity.
