Welcome back! I am excited to be working with your children this new school year. I have a lot of new students and a handful of old students. We will be exploring English through the four elements of language — reading, writing, speaking, and listening. This will include instruction in cultural matters of this country while maintaining an appreciation of their native cultures. Being bilingual and bicultural is very important to me and will assist your children in becoming natural leaders in our global community. So please continue to speak to your child in your native language and encourage cultural diversity!
It has been a great two weeks of meeting with your children and getting to see how they have grown over the summer. Or in the case of all of the new students, figuring out how they learn and how best to help them. I have been administering spelling inventories, gauging reading levels, and getting writing samples to best make groupings.
