Happy long weekend! We hope you and your family are doing something fun and relaxing this weekend. We had a busy week here at PCCS, and it feels like everyone is getting the feel for being back to school. If you haven’t already, check out Prairie Crossing Charter School’s Facebook page! There are pictures from our science experiments this week.
This week, the 4th graders have been working on multiplication strategies for larger multiplication problems. They are learning that the answers to some problems can help them answer other multiplication problems. We also continue to work on showing arrays, and breaking them apart to represent the distributive property. The 4th graders will have a multiplication and division checkpoint next week! The 3rd and 4th graders continue to work on different grammar and punctuation skills to help enhance their writing. We also started working on our very first writing for the year! The children are excited to work on their personal narratives and share them with the class. It is amazing how quickly everyone has settled into the routine of the Daily 5 for reading!
Next week, we will continue our unit on electricity and spend some time at our Solo Spots. We will continue talking about narrative writing, and try to enhance our writing with details. Daily 5 will continue with our spelling groups, and small groups will meet with the teacher. We should also be done with NWEA make-up tests next week!
