We have adjusted the weekly “Current Events” assignment, and will be introducing the new version to students next week. Students have really enjoyed reading articles on NewsELA (pronounced News-ella, which was news to us haha). We have created a form that will help clarify expectations for this weekly assignment. Students have had a 2 week break, and will have their 1st Current Events assignment due Tuesday, November 15.
Here is the updated assignment. We will be asking students to complete the assignment as a hard-copy. This is to help students adjust to rising expectations as we move through 6th grade. An announcement will be made if/when students are allowed to turn in digital copies again.
