This week we initiated our 1st reading unit of literature circles. This type of small reading group allows for students to be setting their reading pace over the course of the next month. Ask your child which novel they will be reading with their group! Each week, your child will take on a specific role within their group to assist with comprehension and a meaningful in-class discussion. After reading their novel, students will be writing a narrative piece, as well as completing a character study project. In social studies, students have constructed artifacts that represent the culture we have designed as a class. In order to begin the literal “dig” for this unit, we are looking to borrow a tarp or two; if your family has one we could borrow please let us know!
Next week is Attendance Week, an opportunity to have some fun with themed school spirit days! Here is the schedule for the themes of the week:
Monday, September 11th–Patriot Day–Wear red, white and blue garb
Tuesday, September 12th–Crazy Hat Day
