Turner Tribune 11/3/17

Greetings,

In academics, first trimester has officially come to a close! If students have any late/missing work, I will accept it Monday morning but then the gradebook will be officially closed for T1 assignments. We have wrapped up our ELA units on characterization and narrative writing and are moving into biographies and informational writing next week. In social studies, we will conclude our Primitive Man unit next week, with a comprehensive exam (likely on Thursday). Study guides will be provided to students on Tuesday since we have our field trip on Monday. Reminder to send students will a heat-free + nut-free lunch Monday.

For next Friday’s Veterans’ Day assembly, we are changing it up. Instead of meeting in the gym for an assembly as we have in the past, we are planning a ceremony at the Flagpole near Lake Leo. Afterwards, all classes will participate in a short walk near the lake. Each student will be walking in honor of a member or relation of the PCCS community who has served. Please complete a copy of the document linked here prior to next Wednesday (11/9) and send via email to Mr. Z (tzamiar@pccharterschool.org) to help us collect information about service members who are part of the PCCS community. At the event, we will also be collecting donations (in change) to send to the Lake County Honor Flight. In preparation of the assembly, we will be meeting with book buddies on Wednesday to learn about Veteran’s Day with the second graders.

Lastly, it is time for PCCS’s Second Annual Geography Bee! On December 1st, our class will hold our classroom Geography Bee, to determine a finalist to send to the school-wide competition. Finalists will then compete at our school Geo Bee on Dec 12th. To learn more and help your child prepare, you may wish to use the National Geographic resources found here. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know.
