Turner Times 3/8/19

Hello everyone,

Week one of third trimester is already on the books. Report cards should have been emailed home, and the sign-up link for conferences went out last week; for Turner homeroom families, please click here to sign up, if you have not already done so. To prepare for your conference, you may wish to review the PCCS Student-Led Conferences Brochure.

In ELA this week, students had a chance to reflect on their growing content knowledge by viewing the animated film Zootopia and having a discussion about what they noticed, now having learned more about what classifies a society as dystopian. Also, students started their work in our argumentative writing unit. Lastly, they continued work in their literature circle groups; ask your child what they think of their book so far!

In social studies, we wrapped up our focus on the geography of the Nile, with a quiz to check-in on students’ understanding (click here to view photos of the 3D maps students created). We are now going to be shifting our focus to specific historical figures in ancient Egyptian culture. This is the precursor to the largest individual assignment in SS this year, the Wax Museum speech & mask. More info coming soon…

Finally, the Green Team is selling rain barrels & DIY rain barrel kits! Click here to learn more.
