Turner Times 10/12/18

Happy Friday,

This week in ELA students started studying specific character traits, in both their literature circle books as well as in preparation of their narrative writing. My homeroom also had a chance to read with our book buddies (click here for photos). In SS we concluded our Dig unit on studying culture through archaeology; next week we will be moving into our unit on early humankind, Bones & Stones. Similar to Dig, we will be immersing ourselves in this new unit through reading passages as well as simulation experiences.

On November 1st, students will have the chance to try their hand at tasks that would have been essential to survival in primitive day. Homeroom classes will be rotating to the following stations in groups: spear throwing, archery, fire starting, cave “painting” and satchel-making. Please consider helping assist with keeping this experience running smoothly by volunteering to rotate with groups; staff members lead each station so parent volunteers would help supervise a specific group of 12 students and assist with their work at each station. Thank you for your consideration!
