Tomato Jubilee Letter

Dear Parents,

The ⅚ grade-band is excited to present our first cooking day on Wednesday, September 9th. Our theme is “Tomato Jubilee” and we will be preparing homemade marinara sauce, noodles, eggplant parmesan, flat-bread, and bruschetta. Most of our produce will come fresh from: our gardens here at PCCS, the Hershiser’s garden, and the local Farmer’s Market. All food items will be peanut free and dairy-free options will be provided. If you would like to see a copy of a particular recipe in advance, please let me know.

This is an exciting time for our students to work together and make their own meal from start to finish. Each classroom will be assigned a specific portion of the meal:

*Ms Turner: Eggplant Parmesan

*Mr. Hershiser: Marinara Sauce

*Ms Stefans: Noodles

*Ms Siwy: Bruschetta, Flat-bread

We are in need of monetary donations so that we may purchase enough ingredients to feed the entire grade band. If you are able to do so, please send any donations in an envelope labeled “Tomato Jubilee” to your student’s classroom teacher by September 1st. Any donation is greatly appreciated!

Also, this event is a volunteer opportunity. We are still in need of 1 parent volunteer to come in and help supervise students in our room.

Lastly, anyone who would be willing to loan or provide cooking utensils such as peelers, knives, and noodle makers, that would be appreciated as well.

We thank you for your continued support and look forward to the first cooking day in the 2015-16 school year.

Kind Regards,

The ⅚ Grade Band
