The Final Stretch

It’s a strange feeling to begin my last email to you all today. I really want to thank you for your partnership and support over the course of this year. It has truly been a pleasure to work with such a dedicated group of parents who want the best for their children and our school. This year would not have been so successful without all of you on our 5th grade team.

It may not have been Warren Dunes, but we had a great time at PCCS on our simulated camping trip. Although we were all disappointed that the weather prevented us from going away, we are so proud of your children for making the best of a tough situation. The meals we shared, the many miles we hiked, and the beautiful sights we saw along the way made for a memorable experience for all. Many thanks to the parent chaperones – Mrs. Heller, Mrs. Crow, Mr. Billotto, Mr. Haggerty, Mr. Mertz, Mrs. Luoma, and Mr. Luri – who joined us on the trails, on the beach, and at the campfire to ensure a successful event.

Monday is the last day for students to turn in any missing work – including the most recent book project assignments for Red Scarf Girl and Journey to Jo’Burg – before 3rd trimester report cards are due. All extra credit must be in by this time also. Mrs. Neil and Mr. Stewart’s class will be going to the farm for one last visit on Monday morning and both classes will participate in field day (Neil/ Stewart – wear green, Hurwitz/ Zimmerman – wear black) in the afternoon. Please ensure your child is dressed comfortably and brings a water bottle for the day.

We will be gone all day Wednesday on our canoe trip (please send a water bottle and peanut free lunch) and Friday at 10:00 is our PBIS celebration. Also, please note that PCCS will be providing a treat, but not lunch, on this day and students will be dismissed at 1:00. All family members are welcome to join us for this fun event!
