When students pick the spelling group names, you never know what you’re going to get! This round of names brought the same variety… 🙂
Below you will find the new names of our five spelling groups Listed underneath each group, you will find a link for the spelling list (in case words didn’t make it home) as well as the “key.” Each week, this key will provide the words sorted into their correct categories, the patterns students should be noticing, and other important information to support the students as they practice their sorts. I hope this will be a helpful guide towards success in spelling! The most important aspect of Words Their Way is the understanding of patterns occurring in words. Students will begin to discover how patterns affect pronunciation, and will support them as they attempt words in writing that are outside of their weekly lists (but show those same patterns!).
