Social Studies Project: Wax Museum

Good afternoon,

After break, students will begin Egyptian/Greek Wax Museum presentation prep, with each student responsible for making a prop or mask for the figure they will embody. Figure assignments will be finalized and shared with students prior to bring. Here are some notes regarding this project:

The tentative date(s) for Wax Museum are currently April 27th (1st choice) and April 30th (second choice). The specific day will be confirmed in mid-April, and we will be sure to let you know so you can make arrangements to attend if interested.

Thank you to all families who offered to send in materials; bonus thanks to the Fox family & Colon family for sending plaster before I secured boxes.

When working with the plaster, students should try to wear/bring clothing they are not attached to. We will discuss expectations for using the plaster at length (such as water with plaster cannot go down the sink, and students should never wrap wet plaster strips around themselves as it will constrict when hardened).

Lastly, each student will need to bring 1 wire hanger to use as a handle to their mask/tool to make their prop. Please begin sending these in at your earliest convenience. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out. Thank you!
