Greetings everyone,
Thanks to all who joined us for Curriculum Night yesterday! Here is the recording and presentation, for anyone who missed it. Two things Mrs. Wright & I wish to mention, that came up at curriculum night:
- Students should not need to spend more than 1 hour *total* on homework after school (~20 min for reading, ~20 min for math practice, and potential ~20 min for other subjects); if they are spending more time on homework than that, please reach out to us to we can assist in making things more reasonable
- For families who are looking for asynchronous options during early release day lunch breaks, please refer your child to this document we have created with options for each of our four core subjects
Additionally, thank you to all families who collected/returned curriculum supplies last week! *Please note* the difference between required reading books sent home in curriculum bags and optional books: required books will always have a post-it on them. Other books are meant to be non-screen friendly options. These options can be returned at any point this trimester.
In Science next week, we will have Ms. Naomi Hershiser with us as we explore Natural Selection and Adaptations. In Math A&B, we are continuing our way through Module 1 and transitioning into unit rates as they relate to ratios. For social studies, students will be constructing an artifact for their imaginary culture, and have a chance to study their peers’ *top secret* work. In ELA, we continue literature circle reading, and will start talking about character studies in relation to those novels, and the overall focus in trimester one of narrative writing.
Lastly, next week will be taking the NWEA 6+ for Math and Reading. This occurs from 9-11am on Monday (Math) and Wednesday (Reading). Please click here for more information about how this will work, in a remote setting. Students have been practicing and preparing all week.
