Greetings all,
It was a wonderful, jam-packed first week of the second trimester in 6th grade! We had a Natural Leader Assembly, Environmental Ed with Mrs. Naomi, and a chance to show gratitude by designing “Thankful trees” during Turner Homeroom’s morning meeting.
This week:
-
In ELA: students started our new unit, on informational reading and writing. They also took a quiz to determine if our current vocabulary routine is working well for growing students’ knowledge of academic vocabulary.
-
In Social studies: students designed a Stone Age Menu to show their understanding of hunters & gatherers in prehistoric times. They then had a chance to blend poetry with our studies of megaliths – ask your child to read their found poem to everyone at home!
-
In Science: we learned a lot about plate tectonics, plate boundaries, and convection currents. Wednesday’s lab was a lot of fun. Thank you parents for supporting your student in that.
-
In Math: Math A took a quiz today on fraction and decimal operations. Math B continues to work through rational number concepts with the help of some student volunteers.
