Sixth Grade Sentinel – 11/06/2020

Salutations,

This week:

  • In ELA: students completed week 2 vocabulary sentences. They also started drafting another personal narrative. Students who edit their piece with a peer or family member by this Tuesday will receive an additional 5 points! Use the checklist on the assignment to guide this process 🙂

  • In Social studies: students shared skits of their primitive communication scenarios. Then we started our new lesson, on cave art. They toured a primitive cave virtually during class today and will have time to complete their own cave art on Monday – option to begin work over the weekend.

  • In Science: We started our new unit, Earth Systems. The focus this week has been layers of the Earth. On Monday the 9th, students will finally get to use the playdoh that they have had for a while.

  • In Math: Math A is working through various arithmetic problems involving fractions. Math B wrapped up Module 2. They are starting a new module that involves Rational Numbers.

With the end of the trimester right around the corner, this weekend would be a great time to go through Powerschool with your child and check that they are caught up on work. Please contact teachers if your child needs support on a specific assignment – many of the directions and resources can be found on Google Classroom. We appreciate your partnership!
