Sixth Grade Gazette 5/26/17

Dear parents,

The main event from this week was of course the visit to Warren Dunes! Students had a great time preparing their meals, performing plays, designing beach art, hiking enormous sand dunes and playing in the rain! Check out the previous webpost for some photos. It was a truly memorable experience for all in attendance. We want to send a HUGE thank you to our incredible parent chaperones — Mr. Pope, Mrs. Luoma and Mrs. Crow, you are all amazing!

Students that did not attend the trip this week had the opportunity to work with the remaining 5/6 classes and do some activities involving our camp site — Warren Dunes and Lake Michigan.

Our canoe trip is right around the corner, this Tuesday! Please send your child with a non-heat up lunch, a water bottle, nature journal and a day bag (draw-string or nature bag will work best).

It is time to begin the process of collecting students’ Chromebooks (CBs) and chargers for PCCS to store over summer. Please have your child bring both items to school on Thursday June 1, when the materials will be checked in by Mr. Coonan and the business office to note conditions. All materials will be stored in labeled bags, if you wish to send the box the CB came in it could be stored there as well.

Lastly, before offering the opportunity to current 5th graders, we want to see if any student from class wants to volunteer to take care of Hershey (our class turtle) over the summer. Her habitat is getting refreshed next week so she should be in happy spirits. If you’re on the fence, take a look at her “care” document here; she is pretty low maintenance. Please let us know by Monday if you are interested.
