Sixth Grade Gazette 5/19/17

Dear parents,

During ELA, we have begun reading Omnivore’s Dilemma. If you ask your children about corn (a large part of the first part of the book), they might have something to share! Reading of this book may be done at your child’s personal pace, with homework assignments being guidelines; books will be collected on June 1st. In Science, students continued their “Code Blue” unit by creating their 3-D representations of specific body systems. In our specials, we began playing softball (PE) and took a quiz on a new verb today (Spanish).

Today, Mrs. Meyer came and talked to our class about Erin’s Law. We highly encourage you to talk to your child about this discussion.

Our camping trip is next Tuesday to Thursday! The trip phone number we will be using is 224-688-7261. Temperatures will be cooler and there may be rain, so please pack student’s bags accordingly. Also, students who arrived back from the first trip said ticks were prevalent so please be sure to pack bug spray.

Our canoe trip is also right around the corner! We are still missing the waiver from some students. If you have not done so, please fill out a canoe trip waiver form for your child and send it into school. There is no fee for the trip.

Lastly, we have a variety of collection drives happening at PCCS. In addition to selling our cookbook (click here to order) to fundraise for the Northern Illinois Food Bank, we are collecting donations of:

  • Toilet paper, also for St. Anastasia’s
  • Gently used children’s books, for Learn Charter School.

You may take your donations to the office from May 22 to May 31.
