Sixth Grade Gazette 4/7/17

Dear parents,

It has been a productive first week back after spring break! In Social Studies, students have been putting in a lot of effort into their Taste of the World reports, recipe planning, and presentations. Our class’s Taste of the World presentations will be in the gym next Tuesday, April 11th, from 12:20 PM to 2:30 PM. In ELA, everyone has been writing a narrative paper on what they did over spring break. They had the freedom to write from the point of view of anyone from their spring break experiences. After making some edits later in the week, students created some interesting and well-written stories!

In our specials, we continued playing lacrosse and focused on the accuracy of our shots (PE), had a nice lesson on communication and miscommunication (Health), and continued our study of commands and recent vocabulary (Spanish).

ELA PARCC testing is now through (aside from makeup testing). Now moving onto Math PARCC testing next week on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday!

Author Suzanne Slade is visiting PCCS on April 26th, to commemorate her recent book, written after a visit to our campus. Attached is an order form, in case you are interested in purchasing the book and having her sign it. Please return forms to PCCS (attn: Naomi) by April 19.

We have begun the process of planning for this year’s prairie burn. Please click here to read more about this unique opportunity for our students. Prairie Burn Permission Slip. The specific date for the burn will be determined by professions (tentatively some time in the next two weeks) so students interested in participating may want to keep a spare set of clothing at school.
