Room 21 Register – 11/8/19

Good afternoon,

This week students turned in their character bags and returned their literature circle books. They also worked on the writer’s workshop process using their personal narrative. Your child will be asking you or another adult at home to conference with them regarding their piece. There is a short table that can be completed to guide this conference; thank you for your partnership in encouraging students to improve their writing over multiple drafting sessions. Final revisions to their narrative need to be completed by November 14th.

In social studies, students wrapped up a simulation using primitive language, and started learning about the tool-making process of different early hominids. To wrap up our primitive studies, students will be playing some hunter/gatherer games and reading about megaliths.

I highly encourage families to check out the following:

  • Six Flags’ Read to Succeed form: this year the program has parents entering their child’s reading into an online log. Let me know if you need assistance getting set-up.
  • The Green Team is encouraging trash-free lunch Wednesdays; specifically focusing on zero plastic baggies on 11/13 and 11/20. If our class succeeds, we will earn a bonus 20 min of recess in November (at the playground)!

Important Dates

  • Mon 11/11: Veteran’s Day, assembly @8:15 in the gym
  • Wed 11/13: Early Release, 1PM dismissal
  • Fri 11/15: End of T1

Stay warm!
